Name: Lucy Pevensie
Age: (Approximate) 9. However, she has lived for 23 years, as time runs differently in Narnia, where she lived for 15 years.
Race: Human (Daughter of Eve)
Place of Origin: Earth (Finchley, England)
Weapons (in Narnia): A dagger given to her by Father Christmas. (She was also given a healing cordial made from the juice of fireberries from the mountains of the sun ). In addition, she became quite good at the bow and arrow.
Horse (in Narnia): Cassie and Lucy are great friends. Lucy used to ride Cassie everywhere, as the horse -- unlike most talking horses -- loved to be ridden (by Lucy, at least). But as Cassie is getting older, by the end of Lucy’s first journey to Narnia, the queen had begun to ride Caspar, a non-talking horse, more and more frequently. Of course, Cassie still insists on carrying Lucy during special occassions.
Appearance:
By the end of her stay in Narnia, Lucy was 23 years old. She had brown hair that, when let loose, fell gently to her waist. She didn’t let it down often, though, for it got in the way. A shining silver circlet usually rested on her head, while sparkling brown eyes lit up her merry face. And though she was a little short, she was strong and fit. Lucy wore whatever clothes worked best for what she wanted to do, whether that was a boy’s tunic and trousers, or a dress that befit her status as queen. At her waist was usually found a belt carrying a dagger and a small vial containing a magic cordial that could heal all wounds. As commanded by the High King her brother, though, she did not wear the cordial to war, so as to save it for great extremities.
In England again, Lucy is back to being 9. Thus, she is much shorter (though only a little short for a 9 year old.) She is less strong, for in England she doesn’t get quite the exercise she had in Narnia. Her hair is much shorter, and she wears it parted to the side. Her clothes are typical for upper-middle class girls her age, and kind of drab since there is a war going on.
Personality: Lucy has changed since she first entered the wardrobe, though her basic nature has stayed the same. Though no longer so naive, she remains innocent and sweet. She has kept her ready laugh and quick smile, and she still embraces the unexpected and believes in the impossible. She looks at everything with wide-eyed wonder, as if she were seeing it for the first time. She is polite and friendly, and doesn’t mind talking to perfect strangers. Lucy is also very honest, and thus is hurt when her siblings don’t believe her when she returns from Narnia for the first time. She is loyal to her friends and family, and has a big heart. It is appropriate that Lucy receives the cordial from Father Christmas, for she is the type of person who always tries to make people feel better. A bit of a tomboy, she was renowned for her courage in Narnia (she is often called Queen Lucy the Valiant.). She always accompanied her brothers into skirmishes, and was quite accomplished with the bow and arrow. However, though she often takes place in activities reserved for males, in other ways, she is still very much a girl. Lucy often acts much older than her age. After all, she was a queen for about 15 years.
At home in England once again, she kept most of her Narnian personality. However, she doesn’t act quite as old, and is happy less often. Narnia was more her home than England will ever be. Its not as if she is living in the past, but she does grow wistful thinking of Narnia from time to time.
History: Lucy Pevensie was sent with her brothers and sister to the house of an old professor in the country because of the bombing of London. While there, she discovered a wardrobe that was the doorway to a magical country called Narnia. There, she met a faun named Mr. Tumnus, who originally wanted to kidnap her, but felt bad about it, because they were getting to be friends. So he let her go. Lucy returned through the wardrobe, and tried to tell her siblings what had happened. None of them believed her, which made her miserable for days. Finally, however, all of the children arrived in Narnia. Together, with the help of Aslan the Lion, they saved the country from the evil witch Jadis, who for a hundred years had made it winter in Narnia, with no Christmas. Afterwards, they were made queens and kings of Narnia.
Lucy was queen there for 15 years and had many grand adventures. By the end, memories of England had all but faded away, so that she only really thought about it in her dreams. Her time in Narnia has matured her much faster than she would have matured in England - but then, Narnian air tends to do that to people.
Then, just as suddenly and unexpectedly as she was swept into Narnia through the wardrobe, she was swept back out. The four siblings were riding after the White Stag when they found the lamppost. Lucy thought it seemed awfully familiar, and ever the adventuring one, went off to check. The others followed, and next thing they knew, they were tumbling back through the door of the wardrobe. The strange thing was that although they’d spent 15 years in Narnia, no time at all had passed in England.
They’ve now been home for a little while, and though Lucy would love to go back to Narnia, she hasn’t found away in yet. She’s not quite given up hope yet, though…
